After is a book about a young girl named Devon Davenport who is known as the perfect girl. Perfect Grades, Mature, Responsible, and Hardworking. This all changes when she later gives birth- not knowing she was pregnant in the first place- and puts the baby in a trashcan, clearly in panic, not knowing what to do. After that incident, there's only one way to define the reason why she decided to do this: attempted murder.

MY REVIEW

So, this was a rollercoaster for me. I have no idea what I felt during the first 10 pages of absolute revolt. The beginning grabbed me. It pulled me in and kept me in. Buttt then it went downhill. When she began to refuse anything from happening the first chapter, I understood. She was scared. But then in chapter two it killed me. Now, I know as readers, we can't do anything about a character we do not like- besides just closing the book and never opening it again. And that is just what I did. I did not enjoy the fact that I had no backstory on what was going on- whatsoever. She had birthed a baby and almost got arrested for it, and I had no explanation on what happened? In my opinion, I prefer a book where the first or second chapter is the before what is going on if it is something this major. I could've but i refuse to continue reading. Second of all, Devon just kept on bothering me. She would refuse to even get help from people who were offering it to her. This actually made me mad, and she made the situation worse. The fact she didn't even explain herself. I can put myself in her situation, and of ANYTHING I would NOT just leave them to believe that was attempted murder. I would've explained myself and the cause of why I decided to do this. Now, near the end of chapter one is where I actually started getting mad. She refused to allow the doctor to get the cord outside of her, which can kill her, in any causes. Like- JUST LISTEN.
